CHARLENE'S OBITUARY

Charlene Cross, 81, of Xenia, Ohio passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born March 2, 1942 in Xenia, Ohio, the daughter of James and Georgia (Bridgman) Knisley.

She was a 1960 graduate of Xenia High School and a member of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and a cheerleader throughout her schooling. As a young girl she enjoyed dance and became an instructor under the direction of “Miss Betty” Shidaker. She was employed as a systems analyst while at WPAFB and retired after 35 years of dedicated service. Charlene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved and cared for her entire family. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting and, in her later years, working numerous jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by her husband Dennis Cross, whom she married February 13, 1965, a daughter, Kelly Jo Muterspaw, Xenia, grandchildren Danielle Dawn (Josh) Darnell and Colton J. Muterspaw, a sister Patricia Seifert, Xenia, a brother David M. (Marilyn) Knisley, Xenia, several nieces and nephews, and many close friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents, a daughter Teresa Rene Cross, a brother James W. Knisley, and brother-in-law Theodore Seifert. Charlene will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at noon Friday, December 1, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit Street, Xenia.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 till time of service.  In lieu of flowers, and if desired, contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, Kimberly Care, LLC of Cedarville, Ohio, Kettering Home Care, or to the Greene County Council on Aging, in her memory.
