July 17, 1941 David Samuel Estridge was born to the late Neil and Emma Estridge of Xenia, Ohio. On December 6, 2010 during a cold winter’s night, David passed on to glory.
He graduated from Xenia High School then moved to California. Later on in life he graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana. David was a self taught musician. His specialty was the organ. During his lifetime he played for the great gospel legends such as James Cleveland, Earnest Woods and many, many more. He was known throughout California for his particular style of musical expression. Not only was he a fabulous musician, he also acted in such films like “Hustle” with Burt Reynolds and Catherine DeNueve. He was a member of the Josephites of St.Briget Church of Los Angeles, California.
Left to remember him is his sister Carol Jean (the late Gary) Harris and brother-in-law and his late sister William F. (Mary Anne) Walker, Sr. Also left are his immediate nieces Rene’ (sons Philip and Stephen) of Xenia, Lisa (son and daughter Tyrone and Faythe) Fisher of Indiana, Kelly and Rhonda of California, Cheryl and family of Indianapolis; nephews Randall (Susan) Walker of Boston, Massachusetts, Gary Marice (son Gary, Jr.) of Xenia, Bryan and Ricky of California, William Walker, Jr.(sons Billy and Bryan and daughters April and Brianna) of Kettering and a host of great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, many cousins, his best friend, his cat Charlie and friends Tony Smith, Aaron Day and Pastor John and Lisa Tunsull all of California. Preceding him in death besides his parents were his sister Phyllis, brothers Melvin and Donald and his nephew Michael Harris.
The family will celebrate his home going at a later date.
