John Robert Irwin, 83 of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on February 21, 2025.
He was born February 7, 1942, in Gladstone, Greene County, Ohio, the son of Robert William and Ruth Ann (Diamond) Irwin. John was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War and a retired City of Xenia Police Officer. He also worked for the Greene County Prosecutor's Office as an investigator. He enjoyed the outdoors, travel, reading and golf both as a player and spectator. John was a lifetime Masters series patron since 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Jody and George Ross.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Connie (Johnson) Irwin. He is also survived by his children, Susan C. (Tod) Wheeler, Robert W. Irwin and Family, Elizabeth J. Dotson, Garrett W. (Janelle) Irwin; grandchildren, Catherine, lcy (Aaron), John (Alison), Joshua (Chelsae), Logan (Emily), Alex and William; great-grandchildren, Aubree, Bentlee, Kinsley, John, Nataleigh, Elaine and Jameson; brothers, Daniel (LuAnn) Irwin and Bryan (Sherry) Pflanzer and other nieces and nephews.
John will be forever missed and loved.
Memorial service will be held 11:30 AM Friday, February 28th, at McColaugh Funeral Home in Xenia, where visitation will be held 10:00 AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
