On Saturday, August 7, 2021, Karen E. Raterman passed away peacefully at de Greeff Hospice. Karen was the beloved wife of James Raterman, dear mother of Andrew Raterman and Mariel Edwards, and proud grandmother of Grace and Jake Raterman and Nyla Edwards, and friend to many. Karen was born In Louisville, Kentucky to Hilda and Robert Prouty; Rob was her younger brother. The family moved to Xenia, Ohio where she attended high school, then to Dayton, Ohio for her undergrad degree at University of Dayton. Jim and Karen married in 1966 in Dayton, Ohio. They moved to St Louis in 1972 and have remained there together since.
Karen was a Histology Technician virtually all of her working life. At various hospitals in Dayton, Detroit, Ohio, and St Louis, she prepared patient tissue for analysis upon which Pathologists made medical decisions. She loved playing bridge with long time friends and especially singing in the choir at Glendale Lutheran Church.
A visitation will be held at Bopp Chapel on Tuesday, August 10th from 5-8pm, and the funeral service will be held at Glendale Lutheran Church on Wednesday, August 11th at 10am.
