Rebecca B. Storey, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 22, 2010 in Dallas, Texas.
Becky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Buell, was born in Xenia, Ohio. Becky attended Xenia High School, and continued her studies at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She married her high school sweetheart, Paul R. Storey, in December 1966 and has two daughters; Elizabeth and Jennifer.
She dedicated her life to teaching young children. She taught at Wesleyan Day School in Atlanta, Georgia, and then at Phoenix Country Day School in Phoenix, Arizona. After moving to Texas in 1983, she taught kindergarten at The Hockaday School in Dallas for 13 years and co-founded The Hockaday Lower School Summer Camp. She was named Head of Lower School in 1996, and during her seven-year tenure, she was named an Honorary Alumna. After her retirement, Becky continued working with The Hockaday Admissions Office.
She is survived by her husband, Paul R. Storey; her mother, Phyllis F. Buell; her 2 daughters, Elizabeth of Camden, Maine, Jennifer and her husband, Doug Irwin and grandchildren Charlie and Winn of Wellesley, Massachusetts; brother, Robert Barry Buell and wife, Judie, of Tampa, Florida and sisters, Jenni Seidel of Camden, Maine and Susie and husband Kevin Sonnycalb, of Xenia, Ohio.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 3,11:00 am at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Xenia, Ohio. An honorary service is planned at The Hockaday School in the new year. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are making contributions to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation .
