Rehmund "Buck" Farrenkopf, 75 of Sugarmill Woods, Fla. passed away Monday May 21, 2018 in Brooksville, Fla. under the loving care of his family and hospice.
He was born July 14, 1942 to Winfield and Jenny (Puryear) Farrenkopf in Dayton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Xenia High School Class of 1960. He served our country in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1963. Buck retired as Chief of Police for the Okeechobee Police Department where he had resided for 34 years. Upon retirement, he moved to Marshall, Ark. where he operated a small cattle ranch as a beloved hobby that he thoroughly enjoyed. He was also a member of the Shriners organization.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Gail Farrenkopf of Sugarmill Woods, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Ollie Free, also of the home, who celebrated her 104th birthday on August 13th. He dearly loved and was very proud of his children who are, Rehmund "Mike" Farrenkopf (Bonnie) of Sugarmill Woods, Fla., John Cain (Angie) of Davie, Fla., Brian Cain (Nerissa) of DeLand, Fla., William "Billy" Farrenkopf (Christy) of Okeechobee, Fla., Kim Gibson (Tony) of Sugarmill Woods and Catherine Scroggin (Bill) of Marshall, Ark. He had 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday May 25, 2018 in the Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell, Fla. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to HPH Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd. Hudson, FL 34667. Arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home and Crematory, Crystal River, Fla.
