Robert Edward “Tootsin” Gray, Jr., 71, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in the University Hospital of Cleveland, following a long illness. He was born in Xenia, Ohio, coming to Elyria many years ago.
Mr. Gray was a graduate of Xenia High School. He entered the U.S. Marine Corp after graduation. He worked for U.S. Republic of Elyria.
Mr. Gray was a member of Church of Christ in Lorain. Mr. Gray was very passionate about cars and attending car shows. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Robin (John) Turney of Titusville Florida, Teresa (Richard) Nard of Xenia; sons, Martell Gray of Ft. Myers Florida, Chad Johnson of Daytona Beach Florida; eight grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren; brother, George L. Gray of Xenia; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert, Sr. and Mary E. Gray; sisters, Marilyn Langston; and sons, Wayne Gray and Ronald Gray.
Friends may call Wednesday, February 26, 2014, from 10 A.M., until the time of service at 11 A.M., at Church of Christ, 5075 Toledo Rd., Lorain. Minister James Hiser will officiate services. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
