Sebert A. Guckian, of Xenia, OH, peacefully left his earthly home to be with Jesus on April 14, 2016. Sebert was born on March 5, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio to Ralph "Pat" and Janell (Sebert) Guckian. He graduated From Xenia High School in 1960 and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1964. He received the Rocky Thomas Award in high school as manager of the track and varsity basketball teams. He received many awards throughout his life. He was also a philanthropist who gave generously of his time, talents and treasure to his beloved community. He participated in the New York Marathon in his wheelchair at the age of 64 in order to raise money for Schneider House. He was also a board member of Toward Independence for many years, and a long-term board member of the local Young Life. He was a long-time elder and treasurer at Memorial United Presbyterian Church. In recent years, he and his wife, Ciela, held prayer and worship at The Open Door in Xenia. He began his career at Anchor Hocking Glass Co., in Jacksonville, FL; Cooper Industries in Mt. Vernon, OH; and French Oil Mill Machinery Co. in Piqua, OH. In 1980, he brought his family back to Xenia where he opened his own business, Sebert A. Guckian, CPA. He was a patriot, a pillar of the community, and a profound lover of Jesus. Sebert was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Norman Guckian, niece Kimberly Guckian Kendig, and stepfather, Harold Ludwick. He is survived by his wife Ciela, daughter Amy (Steve), son Patrick (Amie), step-daughter Jessica (Stanton) and grandchildren Andrew, Alex, Josie, Mary, Michael, Luke and Lincoln, as well as his sister-in-law, Linda Guckian, nephew Dale (Cindy) Guckian, step- brother Andy (Donna) Ludwick, and cousin, Bobby Joe Guckian. Sebert was blessed with so many friends with whom he loved to share his deep faith and wonderful sense of humor. A celebration of his life will be held at the Ledbetter Road Church of God at 325 Ledbetter Rd. on Saturday, April 16. There will be time to visit the family from 10-11:30 A.M. followed by a service at 11:30 A.M. Sebert chose to participate in the Wright State University School of Medicine Anatomical Gift Program because of his desire to promote learning.
