The picture of the New Burlington elementary school above was a lot earlier than when our classmates were there, but the school was pretty much unchanged from when this picture was taken.
The building contained three classrooms and a kitchen. The first and second grade classes were together in one "wing" of the building; the third and fourth grades were on the other side; and the fifth and sixth grades were towards the front under the school bell. When they had school plays, there was a portable stage that was brought out and placed in the fifth and sixth grade classroom. There was two four-hole "out buildings" for the children; one for the boys and the other for the girls.
The school was closed in 1955 and the children then went to the elementary building next to Spring Valley High School.
Classmates Jim McHarg, James Graham, Carolyn Stanley and Gerald Liston attended this school.
